OG Posters

Task 3.

Designing new poster designs. I had created a variety of posters designs using some of my favourite patterns I had created first terms for OGP’s branding. i have now changed the posters and added some new ideas using different type layouts, kerning and tracking to help bring more feeling to the designs. I have also decided to take away any box capacities due to it changing the patterns and backgrounds completely.

“We would like to have a series of posters designs that would work well alone but also together.”

After reading my notes back it helped me to change and create a poster series which would work professionally as a collective. Due to designing so many patterns I was told to continue experimenting with all my patterns to see which ones would work best. I have also added the logo to the poster to put the logo into context. This works so well, I definitely prefer the second logo to my first.

 

I have spaced the type similarly on each poster and used the ampersand symbol as well as my own simply designed balance symbol to split the posters up perfectly. I feel the posters have a more delicate feel and the type works well for the OG pie brand. Nicole & Whitney are also happy with these.

Reflection

I am looking to add the tagline to the posters to see how this will look as well as designing some packaging next using the logo, tagline and patterns.

Official Logo

Task 2.

I have been working on OGP’s official logo design. After designing the first steps for OGP’s branding for my first term project I have been asked to make some changes. Here is a reminder of my first logo design.

Nicole & Whitney were very happy with my idea for the logo design. They felt I had touched on their vision 100% however wanted me to try to edit my design so it looked more like a readable O&G. I have experimented with some different typefaces and thicknesses to create some new versions.

Below are the four versions I have been working on keeping the infinity symbol as a strong part of the logo and changing the figure of eight to read much clearer experimenting with making the logo thicker and thinner.

After sending these examples Nicole & Whitney were really impressed with the thinner logo. This fits best due to it looking more feminine, delicate and professional.

Reflection

I am looking to speak with Zara regarding the tagline as the girls were really impressed with her tagline. Once I have conformation from Zara I will be working on adding the tagline to my logo design and putting the logo into context, i.e. posters, branding etc.

OGP’s Kitchen

The perks of working for Oh Gee Pie.

Last night I was invited to visit Blighty’s Cafe where OGP’a Kitchen is located. Their first official baking workshop was taking place here this evening. This gave me a chance to have a deeper look into the company what they do and get a feel for their vision as well as experience researching the brand in a fun way. Blighty Cafe is in Tottenham Hale. A intimate space filled with culture and creativity. 

We all had the chance to get to know one another before the workshop which made the evening very relaxing and sociable. My auntie and cousin came along with me which was a nice added touch to the evening. 

After exploring Blighty Cafe we got started making and baking with the OGP ladies. Everything had been set up for us along with snacks and champagne. Below are some photographs I took throughout the workshop.

Reflection

This was a way for me to have a relaxing evening away from a computer screen and my books but to also get some important research done and have the chance to speak with Nicole and Whitney about my development so far.

Official Meeting

1st Meeting with Whitney, Nicole & Emily.

Today was the first official meeting with the Oh Gee Pie ladies and my studio tutor Emily Penny. After surprisingly winning the the client brief my studio worked on last term, I now have the chance to work with Whitney and Nicole properly helping to create their brand identity. I have created a few designs last term for my studio project and for OGP that they were both really happy with.

Feedback 

I have included my feedback from last terms work which I feel will help viewers to understand the direction in which OGP wanted me to go for as well as a reminded for myself.

Definite understanding of who we are and where we are going with our pies and concept. Found a way to weave it into every fabric of the presentation. Would like to see how we could tie a bit more of ourselves into the brand and make it a bit more personal – female brand. Infinity, peace, namaste – we loved it! 

Logo – Loved that everything ties together, simple and elegant

Packaging – love the idea of a circular box

Absolutely loved how creative you got with the textures/backgrounds. We love the idea of having multiple images to work with. You definitely got our vision!!! They also really liked aspects of both Zara and Clelia’s work from the OGP projects so I am looking to work with them both using and intwining our design ideas into one. 

A Little About N&W

Nicole Page and Whitney Papa finished a masters degree in public administration at London Metropolitan University last summer. After successfully graduating they decided to work together on creating their own company based around one of their best interests. Something they had both grown up with, baking. The won the Accelerators big idea competition and everything has been escalating amazingly ever since. I feel this is a good experience for me working with graduates from London Met being a current student here.

Notes

I had taken down a page full of important notes to look back at whilst working. Emily has also taken down some important notes for me whilst I was in mid conversation with Whitney and Nicole at our meeting.

Reflection

I feel this meeting was very organised and has helped me to start my internship on a positive note. I am looking to schedule a second meeting with them both very soon after making some changes to their logo design which I started working on last term. I am also looking to book a meeting with Sara to help me gain some different feedback.
